Welcome to MAGGIE & CO, Torquay, Devon

Maggie & Co Fashion Show in aid of the British Lung Foundation.
SEXY and glamorous dresses straight from the London Fashion Week catwalk are set to light up the event of the year for South Devon?s fashionistas. Designer-to-the-stars Ben de Lisi is loaning a selection of red carpet dresses and shock new designs from last week's London Fashion Week show to help raise funds for the fashion show, called "Every Breath You Take" because the main aim of the dayis to boost the British LungFoundation's coffers. Last year the champagne receptions and shows hosted byMaggie and Co at Torquay's Imperial Hotel raised more than ?5,000. This year's bigger and better event is already on target to raise more. The top designer boutique on The Strand is once again organising two catwalk shows, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, with 80 outfits from 25 international designers being shown by professional models from London and the West Country. Last year's show was so popular that this year the event is moving to a bigger room at the Imperial with seating for 300 at each showing on ThursdayMarch 13. Tickets are already being snapped up, with more than a quarter sold before they were officially announced or advertised. Owner Maggie Williams said: "We are all about glamour. I wanted this year's show to be even more exciting, so I have a couple of secrets up my sleeve. Not even my staff knows everything.? A big production team is putting together a show to include five themes, showing posh frocks and elegant outfits for daytime and a huge array of dazzling evening wear. Sixteen gowns by the world?s top designers, which are destined to be worn by the stars on next autumn?s red carpet, will be shown in the big finale. The names include the ever-elegant Armani, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Dolce and Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Diane von Furstenberg. Hollywood dress designer of the year Jenny Packham is loved by Sarah Jessica Parker and Keira Knightley and her best-known creation was the red cross-back satin gown worn byBond girl Caterina Murino in Casino Royale. Maggie and Co sold two of the ?1,200 dresses within 24 hours of them arriving in store. Ben de Lisi, who famouslydressed Kate Winslet in show-stopping red for the Oscars, will be sending down four outfits on loan for just 24 hours. The clothes are straight from the catwalk and have not gone into production yet. If you want to buy them you will have to place an order with the designer and wait for the autumn. Maggie said: "My daughter Sara and I saw them at London Fashion Show last week. Ben de Lisi has been incredibly generous in loaning us four catwalk outfits. "These outfits are surprising and quite shocking actually. One is an incredibly body-hugging catsuit in a multi-coloured African print. It will cause a wow at the show?. Fashion addicts from all over England regularly travel to Maggie's harbourside shop, which is one of the topindependent retailers in the UK with 25 international designer collections on sale. Tickets which including a champagne reception are available from Maggie and Co. The models hair is being styled by Angelo in Fleet Walk and Clarins at Debenhams will do the models make-up. There are 600 tickets for the two shows and the evening event is already almost sold out. Maggie said she wanted to re-stage the event to raise more funds for the British LungFoundation because it is such a good cause: The theme will be Every Breath You Take bySting because I don't want anybody to forget the reason we are doing this. It's going to be glamorous, but it?s really all about the fundraising.? British Lung Foundation fundraiser Bridget Mason said: ?Most people don't know that lung disease is the fourth biggest killer. On a personal level I have lost a very great friend to lung cancer: someone who gave up smoking too late, and who died so quickly it was frightening.? For anybody who cannot get to the shows at the Imperial on March 13, raffle tickets are also on sale at Maggie and Co. Prizes include a ?500 Maggie and Co voucher, a voucher for a Hugo Boss outfit (worth about ?350); a beautiful Amanda Wakeleybeaded silk stole worth ?200; Exeter Race Course premier tickets; meals for two at the Imperial and Dart Marina hotels and three magnums of Champagne.
